This dark comedy was admirably performed at St Paul's church on Friday and Saturday nights. As usual, the speech was impeccable and Shakespeare's words always heard by the audience. This was one of the best productions that this talented company has presented.
With so many performances of such a high standard it is difficult to single out any in particular, but the beginning of the second act was charmingly graced by Colleen Winton as Mariana sitting on the chancel steps singing a duet with her son Gower Roberts. Both Pompey (William Sample) and Bawd (Pam Hyatt)
provoked much laughter, a welcome contrast to

the menace of this dark comedy, which was sustained by the rest of the cast. The audience certainly enjoyed this production and it was apparent that the cast also did so. It is the actors' dedication and skill, together with the inspired direction of John Juliani, which make these staged readings at St. Paul's Anglican Church so enjoyable. The next production of this company will be All's Well That Ends Well, at St. Paul's Anglican Church, July 25 and 26, 2003, at 7.00 p.m.
