Twenty years ago, I read this this much-loved children’s book by Dr. Seuss to my children, and nowadays, I read it to my granddaughter who was my guest for the opening matinee of this show.

Director Carole Higgins did a magnificent job putting the cartoon characters onstage. I particularly liked the slow-motion acting when the cat and the "things" were making a mess of the house, as furniture and even Fish were thrown up and about. The sound effects were also impressive.

After the 30-minute show, children asked all sorts of questions, including "How old are all of you?" And, naturally, all the actors gave their ages. Or, "How can you change costumes so fast?"

This was indeed a wildly delightful madcap treat for all the kids, parents and grandparents. The opening also celebrted the 105th birth anniversary of Dr. Seusss, and everyone in the audience sang Happy Birthday.

The play was originally produced by the National Theatre of Great Britain. Carousel Theatre is in its 37th season, and its mission is to provide theatre for young audiences.
