Most performers took on two different roles, highlighting their diverse and versatile talents. The performance was filled with laughter, especially as the audience was invited to suggest hilariously random and creative date locations. The improv was fantastic, and at times even the performers themselves couldn't help but laugh at the delightful absurdity of the suggestions they were acting out. The sharp wit and humor were truly a treat. If you decide to see this show, prepare to leave with your sides aching from laughter. It’s fast-paced, clever, and genuinely funny. Set in the world of dramatic reality dating, the show follows a bachelor or bachelorette on their quest to find love through audience-guided challenges, chaotic dates, behind-the-scenes moments, and even theatrical wine-throwing. The format draws inspiration from over-the-top soap opera antics, making it flirty, unpredictable, and absolutely hilarious. What makes this show especially unique is the level of audience participation. A group of eccentric candidates, all created with the help of viewer suggestions compete for the eligible single's affection. Audience suggestions influence everything from date locations to character traits, ensuring that no two performances are ever the same. Even the final rose moment happens live by the end of the 90-minute show, making each evening its own playful version of a romantic rollercoaster. "The Bachelor-ish" is running every Friday and Saturday night at the Granville Island Improv Centre until May 31, with opening night having kicked off on April 17. Whether you're in it for the improv brilliance, the hilariously absurd romance, or just a good laugh with friends, it's the perfect date night out.
