Josh Boone, 116 minutes When and Where Release date for Canada: October 24, 2025 | Scotiabank Theatre Vancouver AVX Reviewer John Anthony Jane Regretting You is a film by Josh Boone adapted from a 2019 novel of the same name by popular fiction writer Colleen Hoover. The film is scheduled for commercial released by Paramount Pictures in Canada on October 24. None of the film’s main cast would be considered A-List actors, though veteran screen actor Clancy Brown makes an interesting cameo appearance as Miller’s (Mason Thames) canny grandfather. The storyline centres on a complicated mother-daughter relationship: Morgan Grant played by Allison Williams and Clara Grant played by Mckenna Grace. The focal point of the story is the tragic accident involving Chris - Morgan’s husband, Clara’s father. While the film provides some nuanced performances by Allison Williams (daughter of television journalist Brian Williams) and Mckenna Grace in the principal roles, the storytelling lacks weight and leaves the audience less than completely satisfied with the outcome. Audiences may recall Mckenna Grace sharing the role of Infamous skater Tonya Harding with Margo Robbie in I, Tonya, but also as a regular on the television comedy series Young Sheldon. With the possible excerption Mason Thames who plays Clara’s love interest, male characters get short shrift in this film – not especially unusual for Colleen Hoover novels. Scott Eastwood (son of Clint) is pretty invisible, though his character is central to the story. Dave Franco who plays Morgan’s brother-in-law gets a lot of screen time, but lacks conviction. In the end, the narrative is too maudlin and predictable and the dialogue too trite. ©
