A full House and fantastic jazz! The Night Crawlers and Cory Weeds ‘ Cellar Jazz Club All Stars made for an impressive combined presence. Directing and conducting such a large number of Jazz musicians is a feat in itself. It was a performance that I would love to see again. Some of the music sounds were difficult to attain but there they were and the audience loved it. The Norman Rothstein Theatre acoustics, comfortable seating and cozy size were just right for a successful evening. The technicians did a fine job with the stage’s dreamy lighting and sound (Who is that guy?) that added to the jazz magic. There were 13 musicians in the group and it proved to be a lucky number for them last night.

It was an audience of knee tapping and heads bobbing to the beat. Yes, the Night Crawlers truly deserved being nominated at the National Jazz Awards for Album of the year.

If I am not mistaken I think I heard a young Louie Armstrong in the back trumpet row (Chris Davis). Great notes!
