For those of us who love our Shakespeare, The Savage God and the Shakespeare Project are in full production again at Christ Church Cathedral. Opening the series on October 10 and 11 Macbeth filled the Cathedral on Friday night with an appreciative and enthusiastic audience.

The play flowed seamlessly. Scenes of blasted heaths dissolved into Glamis Castle and from banquet hall to witches' coven without pause. As always with this company the speech and characterization were excellent and clear. In the large cast, the overall standard of presentation in the limiting space of the temporary chancel stage, was high.

Outstanding was Lee Van Paassan as Lady Macbeth. Both Duncan Fraser as Macbeth and Howard Storey as Banquo turned in high quality performances, as did John Innes as Macduff. Of the younger members, Adrian Petriw's young Macduff was youthful and convincing.

Now we can all look forward to As You Like It on November 2nd and 3rd 2002, The Tempest on November 22nd and 23rd, 2002, and The Two Gentlemen of Verona on January 17th and 18th, 2003. Performances start at 7.00 p.m. and admission is pay what you can. Don't forget these dates and get there early for the best seats. This company enables you to hear Shakespeare's beautiful -- and bawdy- - words well spoken and intelligently delivered. These are opportunities too good to miss.

The Shakespeare Project plays in November 2002 and January 2003 will be at Christ Church Cathedral, Georgia and Burrard, Vancouver.
