reviewvancouver: The New West Artists’ Launch

New Westminster has a new artist group. New Westminster’s art community has grown thanks to Andrea Fergusson who had a vision six months ago to start an artists group. Her vision and hard work came to fruition this weekend with The New West Artists Launch. This first show was held on the second floor of the River Market at the New Westminster Quay. It was a great success not only for sales and the number of people attending but the club’s membership went from 40 members to 70 during the weekend launch.

There was a large variety of art styles to choose from. The paintings were all priced at under $100.00 to entice the neighborhood to come down, enjoy the art of emerging and professional artists as well as meeting them in person. The music was by Nick Gee, a singer and guitarist who greatly added to the ombience. There was also a happy awareness of new life at the River Market that has been closed to the public for quite some time.
