A solid vibe of community spirit was present at the fourth choreographic event entitled 1/2/3/Edition hosted by TBA on Saturday evening at Gold Saucer Studio. Energy was definitely in the air as organizers, friends and dance aficionados awaited the performances. Fully half of the space was taken up with audience and technical support, leaving the performers with very limited space but within these confines themes of language, sexual assault, words, power, emotional stability and communication emerged.

The space limitation challenged the choreography, lighting and video design to good overall effect. Video is a powerful adjunct to dance. It worked well in this circumstance to create a deeper sense of space and meaning in ersatz choreographed and performed by Gemma Crowe and After the Fall choreographed and performed by Caitlin Griffin.

Mirror Mirror choreographed by Kylah Powell and performed by Kaia Shukin impressed with its haunting vulnerability. David Clennin and Tin Gamboa infused their performance with palpable emotion adding an element of sincerity to Deux choreographed by Marc Arboleda. Version 2, choreographed and performed by Shion Skye Carter and Samantha Priya Wright was a hit.

Pulsing with the beat of Chargaux feat, this duo gave dynamic energy and spot on co-ordination to the piece. Happy Days, choreographed and performed by Lily Cryan added humour to a very impressive evening of dance. TBA is to be congratulated for highlighting and organizing performance space for the impressive up and coming talent in our City.
